Spinal Decompression Therapy: Can It Help You?

Summary:

Spinal decompression therapy may be just what you need to see results with your back pain. Find out more about it here.

Spinal decompression therapy is something that I have taken the time to learn more about, in the hopes that this treatment would help me to stop my back pain. I was concerned and thought it was some sort of ancient method that just did not work. My first question was how does this work?

I found out that when you visit a provider of this treatment, you lay down on your back on a specially designed table.  You are told to relax and then the device is applied to you. The device doesn’t hurt, but it does apply specific pressure to the areas where decompression is needed. It was quite interesting, actually. You do not even think about what is happening during the session as they give you the ability to watch a DVD or listen to music during the treatment.

The spinal decompression therapy helps to elongate the spinal column. After years of walking and just living, your spine becomes compressed, which can cause bulging discs and a number of other painful situations to happen. This therapy actually works to stop that and to reverse it. Of course, each person’s reaction will be different, but it is quite interesting and it can be quite a simple process to pain relief.

Spinal decompression therapy helps with a number of back pains. It can be used to treat lower back pain as well as back pain in other regions so long as the pain is caused by the compression of the spinal column. It does not do much to aid with muscle based pain. If you have the opportunity, I would definitely encourage you to see a doctor about this therapy option. Many people gain better use of their backs and will see excellent pain reduction after a series of therapy sessions.
